Shopify Editions Summer 2025 New Features Review
New features and goodies coming in Shopify Editions Summer 2025

New Shopify Features for Summer 2025
We’re always excited when a new Shopify Edition is launched. That means new features and fun stuff for everyone to play with. And here we are again for Summer 2025. For those of you who may not know, Shopify Editions is a digital announcement provided by Shopify that explores the latest launches, updates, and enhancements across the whole platform. Every six months, a new Shopify Edition is announced to update the world on everything Shopify.
It’s now time for Shopify Editions Summer 2025 and our team is going to review some of the key features. A lot of great things were announced and we can’t review all of them here, but we will focus on those releases that caught our attention. For a more complete list, check out the Shopify Editions site: https://www.shopify.com/editions
Okay, here's some of the new features that excite us most:
Shopify POS Store Credits
Store Credits has been available for online customers for a while, however POS has been missing this feature, until now. Shopify is bringing a fully unified Store Credit solution to the platform with the inclusion of credits within the POS cart. What does this mean for your retail store? You can assign credit to any customer and they can use that amount online or in-store to purchase any item. This is better than a gift card since it’s specific to the customer and more secure. For more details, read our blog on the new Store Credits feature:

Refund to Store Credit
Having Store Credits on POS unlocks a great new option for in-store returns. You can now issue refunds as store credit directly from the Shopify POS, regardless of the original payment method. This helps increase revenue retention by giving customers more options to shop within your store including online. You can keep customers shopping in your store by issuing credit for any return. Your customers will be more inclined to keep shopping since they have instant access to the credit (as opposed to waiting days for credit card refunds.) We love this idea and feel it will help store conversions.

New AI Theme, Horizons
If you read our previous blog about Shopify’s AI Theme features, then you’ll know that Shopify is bringing lots of great AI capabilities to the platform. You can generate new themes for your store just by entering a description at the AI prompt.

Well now Shopify is going all-in on AI theme capabilities with Horizons, a new foundational theme that incorporates AI and the latest theme editor updates. Shopify is launching a new design system called Horizon, and Horizons is the first new theme using this system (yup, the naming convention is a bit confusing, but hopefully this will get better.) Horizon launches with 10 new free themes designed to take advantage of the new experience. All Horizon themes are built with theme blocks offering more flexibility and customization options.
With Horizon, you can use nested blocks and AI to create new content within your theme–no coding required. With Horizon, just enter the design you want, and Shopify will create the block. This will make creating a new store design pretty easy. We’ll have to give the AI a bit more of a spin, but so far, it seems to work well on simple requests.

Copy and paste sections and blocks in themes
Speaking of themes, how many countless hours have you spent in the theme editor creating and then recreating sections that are the exact same thing? Well, now you can now copy and paste sections and blocks within the theme editor. You’ll save a ton of time by easily copying blocks and putting them in new templates. Copy sections from one page and paste them onto another template with ease! Now you can more easily maintain consistency across your whole site.
Better Editing in Theme Editor
And theme editing awesomeness doesn’t end with the new copy and paste features, Shopify has added even more theme editor updates. Editing themes can be a bit of a chore but they’ve streamlined things with cool new features like, section previews, inline text editing, automatic collapsing and right-click shortcuts.

Multi-discount Codes
Have you ever wanted one code to rule them all–well, now you can! It was always a bit challenging to create discounts that apply to multiple things like a product and discount at the same time. You always had to juggle different codes and allow them to work with one another. Shopify has fixed this issue and a single discount (code-based or automatic) that can be applied across products, order totals, and shipping costs. This includes online and POS in-store discounts. Now the single code (or automatic discount) can trigger multiple savings. For example, you can offer a single discount that gives customers15% off selected products, plus free shipping when their order total exceeds $75. This new feature is only available via third-party discount apps so you’ll need to perform some customization or find a new discount app that supports your needs. Available now via the Discount Function API.
Multiple Business Entities
Some of our larger clients and merchants always ask if they can have different business information for their various locations. This comes up a lot with merchants who have multiple stores or geographic locations. Thanks to the new update you can now sell from multiple entities in a single Shopify store. This update supports both online and Shopify POS stores using Shopify Payments. This is an amazing new update that helps merchants manage multiple business payouts and orders in the same store. So, what can you do with this new feature?
- Simplified operations: Operate online and retail entities around the world from a single store, with streamlined reporting.
- Customer location: Recognize customer locations to provide a consistent shopping experience both online and in-store.
- Domestic card processing: Process transactions in an entity's domestic currency from a single store, avoiding international and foreign exchange fees.
- Multiple domestic payout currencies: You can receive payouts to a domestic bank account for each of your entities, in the entity's domestic currency.
This one is specifically for Shopify Plus merchants so it’s not available for all plans.

B2B Markets and Storefronts
Shopify has been teasing us with the new Markets feature and finally it’s here. You’ll now see the Markets settings in your left-sidebar. You can create and manage your Markets right from the main admin. And for the B2B folks, you can now create multiple B2B markets, each with their own unique product catalogs, currency, and online storefront theme customizations. This is huge for Shopify Plus merchants who rely on B2B as a big part of their business. This new update now lets you provide a more customized online experience for your B2B customers. Create a unique storefront just for these customers and watch how happy you can make this customer group.
