We’re happy to announce our next charity for Sunrise Gives, nominated by our Technical Director Leandro: CASA of Los Angeles! CASA/LA organizes the community to take action and advocate for children and families in LA County’s overburdened child welfare and juvenile justice systems.

Children in the dependency and juvenile justice court system face obstacles in receiving the basic care that all children need, like emotional support and a chance for a stable and loving home. They often lack appropriate education and vocational training, medical and mental health care.

Through CASA/LA’s programs and initiatives, they make sure every child is cared for and has the resources to thrive.

“I believe education, not necessarily just in school, is one of the most important resources in developing a stable future,” says Leandro. “Since children are the future, it’s important for them to have this tool at their disposal. I support this cause because I believe every child deserves a chance to become a thriving independent adult and in my opinion this can only be achieved with the right mentorship and guidance.”

CASA/LA volunteers advocate for children in the foster care system in Los Angeles, helping them find safe, permanent homes, securing appropriate educational, and mental and physical health services, and guide the court’s decisions towards more restorative solutions.

Sometimes a mentor can be the turning point in a child’s life that has been disrupted.
